For nearly 20 years the Processing and Packaging Machinery Association has been applying its involvement in both technical and regulatory matters, as they develop, to the benefit of education and training within the industry. This makes available not only the pool of in-depth knowledge built up within the Association itself, but reflects also the strong links now enjoyed with research and academic establishments and constructive relationships with UK government and EU regulators New PPMA Seminar and Training Programme for 2008The past two years have seen the introduction of a series of key Directives and revisions to Directives and Regulations that affect machinery suppliers and users and so this year’s seminar and training course programme gives both users and suppliers an opportunity to catch up on the changes, understand how they are being implemented in the UK and to see what is in store for the future. The CE Marking Update Seminar is a good opportunity to get an overview of the actual and proposed changes, while the new Machinery Directive training course is intended for people who need to have an in depth knowledge of the new legislation ready for its introduction in 2009. Environmental legislation like the WEEE, ROHS and General Waste Regulations will be discussed and the likely impact of changes to the Energy Using Products Directive will also be debated, but we will also be exploring the potential for making profit from climate change. The ever popular Machinery Risk Assessment training course which has been updated to reflect the ideas in the latest ISO standards is being run both in Manchester and Northampton. Who Should Attend?
In-Company Courses Date: 6th February 2008 full day seminar) LOCATION: Marriott Hotel, Northampton The past two years have seen the introduction of a series of
key Directives and Regulations that affect machinery suppliers and users and this seminar gives both users and suppliers an
opportunity to catch up on the changes, understand how they are being implemented in the UK and to see what is in store for the
future. Date: 20th March 2008 (full day training course) LOCATION: Marriott Hotel, Manchester Airport The ability to carry out risk assessments is now a requirement in many walks of life, however what is “a suitable and sufficient risk assessment” that will satisfy the Health and Safety Executive? Companies are expected to carry out machinery risk assessments not only when new equipment is designed, but also for existing plant that is in daily use and particularly before machinery is modified. Many people are used to task based risk assessments, but are unsure how to carry out the kind of detailed risk assessment that is required for machinery, process plant and assemblies of equipment. This course is intended for both engineers who want to learn how to do risk assessment and safety professionals who are familiar with the concepts but need to learn how machinery risk assessment differs from other assessment techniques. This training day gives delegates practical hands-on experience of machinery risk assessment using structured techniques that are based on European standards. Trainer: Martin Keay - PPMA Technical Consultant Date: 22nd May 2008 (full day seminar) LOCATION: Marriott Hotel, Northampton “Adapt and Prosper: the other side to climate change threats”.
This seminar, led by sector specialist Tom Serpell and a team
from management consultants Obsidian, will explore methods
for business owners and managers to evaluate opportunities
in the environmental agenda.
A) Topic introduction B) Methods employable to respond +/- C) Break-out - practical application Date: 11th September 2008 (full day seminar) LOCATION: Marriott Hotel, Northampton The current Machinery Directive (98/37/EC) comes to an end
on 29th December 2009 and is replaced by the new Machinery
Directive 2006/42/EC. So this training course is essential for
anyone who currently supplies or manufactures machinery or
creates assemblies of machines so they know about the new
requirements and are ready for the changeover.
While many of the new essential requirements are similar to
the current legislation, there are some significant differences
which will impact on both machine and assembly manufacturers
and machine importers. Trainer: Martin Keay - PPMA Technical Consultant | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
